Wind Energy Center
The McLean County Wind Energy Center is an opportunity to boost the local economy of McLean County and create jobs, all while generating clean, American made energy to meet Illinois' growing electricity demand.
The project area will span approximately 90,000 acres of private land northeast of Bloomington-Normal, in the Townships of Chenoa, Gridley, Lawndale, Lexington and Money Creek.
At peak construction, the McLean County Wind Energy Center is expected to employ as many as 519 people.
“[Locals] want the job because they’ve lived there all their lives...[It] gave me the opportunity to stay here and make a good living.”
O&M Manager, Spring Canyon Energy Center
The project will provide roughly $2.3 million in property taxes annually. Over the life of the project, Invenergy will be investing around $119 million in the local community through property taxes and land payments alone not including local spending and salaries.
“The Invenergy project is helping the tax payers by helping to pay the school debt down...so it gives tax reliefs to all of the tax payers in these school districts that the wind turbine project is in.”
